What an encouragement!  Several friends, all in a short period of time, said they had been impressed to pray for our family.  No one knew what we were going through that week, but just knew there was a need.  That week had been one of the hardest of my life and my faith in our strong and loving God had been tested.

Sometimes I have looked at a Scripture, such as Luke 18:27 where Jesus said, “What is impossible with men is possible with God” and wondered how that could ever be true in my situation.  And then I hear from another believer how God answered their prayer about something that also seemed impossible, and I am encouraged to believe God’s words again.  We need one another, as believers and friends.  We learn to trust one another as we study God’s Word together, as we worship together, as we celebrate together (eg. baptism) and as we take the time to develop friendships.

Where else do people today sing together? As we proclaim God’s goodness in song, our hearts are encouraged.

Sometimes we do not know what to do, but a friend’s words can give direction.

Sometimes I don’t see my own sin, but God convicts me through a friend’s words.

In our busy lives we have to be intentional about knowing one another and encouraging one another.

Verses of encouragement:
        Prov. 12:25
        Eph. 4:2
        Col. 2:2
        I Thess. 5:11
        Phil. 2:1,2

Prayer:  Father God, thank You for friends who encourage me, sometimes when they don’t even know they are doing it.  Then I know it is You Who is encouraging me.  Thank You for Your power to work through others to help me.  You, God, have designed a great world.  Please help me to be open to getting to know the “one another’s” in my world.
