I hope you are enjoying your summer . . . although today feels surprisingly fall-ish here in Calgary. Never fear, Calgary weather can change in a moment and there are more than three weeks left to enjoy summer before September and fall arrive. : )
Many of you have heard that my fall is going to be very different this year. I will be taking a sabbatical starting August 15, stepping back from formal ministry for a time of renewing, retooling and rest. While I do this, Daryl Ginter will be stepping up to oversee Women’s Ministries. We are blessed to have such a gifted and godly woman available and willing to serve in this way!
It is hard to believe, but it all begins in less than a week! Ken and I will fly to Australia and New Zealand, where he will do some teaching, I will preach, we will both meet with and encourage pastors and leaders in Australia and New Zealand, and together we will speak at the Australian Alliance Pastors Forum. Along the way, we will also get to see some of the beauty in those countries, marvel at God’s creation and have some fun! When I return in September, I will be taking some classes at Ambrose Seminary towards my Master’s degree. I love to study, and look forward to all God has to teach me. I also look forward to enjoying my family and taking time for quiet and reflection as I embrace a different focus and pace of life.
Our Women’s Ministries focus this fall is on Making Connections with God–coming to know him more fully and deeply. All of WM will focus on the habits of engaging with God’s Word, prayer, journalling, and gratitude, in order to nurture a deeper connection with God. I may not be physically with you this fall, but we will be sharing the same journey as we echo the cry of Hosea together . . .
Oh, that we might know the Lord!
Let us press on to know him.
He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn
or the coming of rains in early spring. Hosea 6:3
