If you call upon Him as your Father

Who judges each one impartially

 according to what he does,

then you should conduct yourself

with true reverence

throughout the time of your temporary

 residence on earth

whether long or short.

1 Peter 1:17

Time moves so quickly.  It’s not that long ago that I was a child and running free.  Then I had my own kids that played around my knees.  Now they are all grown up, living their own lives. So what does life hold for me?

I find it is easy to get caught up in what is happening right now—the needs, the rush.  Sometimes it is wonderful to stop and reflect on where I have come from.  What is my background?  What did I experience in my own childhood?  All of it, good and bad, makes me what I am now.  God weaves it all together.

Through the middle years my time and life was given for others—feeding, clothing, teaching, supporting (and on it goes).  What am I becoming?  Every day adds a layer of who I am becoming.  I am so fortunate to have a God who knows, loves, who is ever present and is always ready to help and forgive.  His purpose for me is that I would now and forever show how His grace and power is forming me into what He wants me to be.  His Word instructs me.

I am learning that this journey goes on and on.  It is life with Him in Christ.  Through stresses and struggles, I am learning to consciously turn my thoughts to Him and praise Him for who He is.  I fail many times, but He is gracious and reminds me of that again and again.  He knows my weak places (impatience when in pain) and He gently reminds me of His grace and His favour.  The journey continues—His purpose is to make me stronger in trust and character.

What does life hold for me?  He knows and He is always with me to give me strength.  The end is glory with Him forever.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, be my all.

Response song: Day By Day
